Michigan High School Juniors are given a free SAT test in mid-April, and the results from this test can be sent to colleges.
Most students will want/NEED to take either the SAT or ACT multiple times!
Be sure to register for either test by the registration deadline, or there will be an additional fee. A Fee Waiver is available for students who are on Free or Reduced Lunch or can prove that they are experiencing significant financial hardship. With a waiver students can take the test for FREE. See Ms. Pedersen for this waiver.
Preparing for the sat
Algonac teachers spend many hours in the classroom preparing students for the SAT. Students should still do additional SAT prep. They can attend the SAT prep Blue Water CAN events, and download the Khan Academy App for more practice questions and resources. College board is a very useful website where students can go in to their account and, before retaking the SAT, see exactly which questions they got wrong.

preparing for the act
Some students still prefer to take the ACT and most colleges will still accept these scores. Be sure to check with specific schools of interest to see if they will accept ACT scores. If you would like to take the ACT, the ACT website offers their own prep, and if you need additional resources to prepare, see Mr. C. He has ACT preparation books for you to review.
The college process is just as stressful for parents as it is for students. If you have a question feel free to ask Mr. C via email at [email protected]. You can also reach him by phone at 810-794-4911 ext 1272.
